This past retreat was one of my favourites so far - my co-hosts were all attuned to the group and the guests were delightful. Here are some of the recaps of what we did. We spent the entire day in the beautiful space that Angie Wiseman designed - Otherwise Creative Then the bright shining star who is Emily Cordes lead us in a rejuvenating yoga practise. Emily leads retreats across the globe, check out what she is up to at Lakeshore Flow Next we worked through some self-compassion exercises as a group and took some time for loving-kindness meditation. After that we had an amazing and nutritious lunch by Foodie by Katia!
Lastly, we were lead through a bath-tea making workshop with Kirstie Leedham from Hello Maker. The whole day was filled with warmth and connection, the best way to finish off the winter months!

We believe that you can live your life without constant anxiety and worry.
Anxiety plays an important role in our lives - it lets us know when we need to plan ahead, be prepared, or that something is not quite right for us. Learning how to harness anxiety and actually listening to whats being communicated rather than dwelling on fear can make us more confident. When you work with a therapist, your anxiety will be given a voice and platform to speak and be heard. Then, in the presence of a compassionate witness you can gain tools and strategies for how to move towards a self-led life where anxiety plays its role and then takes a break. We don't want to banish your anxiety - this is a necessary part of you. But we do want to give it a break and teach this part of you how to trust YOU as the leader. What are the ways we can help you in a session? - Processing childhood wounds - Self-compassion strategies - Getting to know the real you - Listening to your fears - Calming anxiety through meditation - Learning breathing and grounding exercises We would love to help you! We've collected a list of ideas for you to try to make it through, and guess what Spring is not too far away! Here are some ideas for you to get through it well :) Embrace Natural Light Ensure you get exposure to natural sunlight during the day. Open curtains, go for a walk outside, or sit by a window to maximize your daylight exposure. Stay Active Engage in regular physical activity, whether it's indoor exercises, winter sports, or simply taking a brisk walk. Exercise releases endorphins, which can improve mood. Create a Cozy Space Make your living space warm and inviting. Add blankets, pillows, and soft lighting to create a comfortable and cozy environment. Connect with Others Socialize with friends and family, even if it's through virtual means. Maintain social connections to combat feelings of isolation. Accessibility: Virtual counselling eliminates geographical barriers, allowing youth to access support from the comfort of their homes. This is especially crucial for those who may be hesitant to seek in-person help due to stigma or other concerns. 2. Comfort and Familiarity: Teenagers and young adults are inherently comfortable with technology, making virtual counselling a natural fit for their communication preferences. The familiar environment of online platforms can encourage a sense of openness and ease in expressing thoughts and emotions. 3. Anonymity: Virtual counselling provides a level of anonymity that can be appealing to youth. The ability to communicate without the fear of judgment or running into someone they know in a waiting room fosters a safe space for self-expression. 4. Flexible Scheduling: The demands on a young person's time can be unpredictable, with academic commitments, extracurricular activities, and social obligations. Virtual counselling offers flexibility in scheduling sessions, making it easier for them to integrate mental health support into their busy lives. Virtual counselling is not just a solution for the present; it is an investment in the mental well-being of the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. We are available evenings and weekends to support youth ages 12-24. Meet Juliana Simon - a Registered Social Worker who lives in Windsor but can see clients all across Ontario thanks to our Jane platform. Find out more about her here Remember when you were a kid and you got invited to a birthday or a celebration and someone took care of all the special details? Do you remember how you felt about yourself when you were perhaps pampered, or taken care of? I love that feeling and I love providing it to adults!
When I am planning a retreat, I think to myself - what would be the most relaxing and non-stressful way to bring a group together? Many of us don't like to be put on the spot, or feel forced to make friends with people. That's why I design my one day micro retreats to include a variety of ways to participate. A guest could come and spend the day alone and not feel awkward about that, or they could come and chit chat and make some new connections. Both are welcome and expected! Retreats require you to pause - and we need more of that. The hustle and bustle of life, especially for women means we don't always get the chance to sit and reflect on how we are doing. I have seen so many guests leave retreats feeling refreshed and relaxed, ready to face their weeks with more self compassion. It fills me with absolute JOY to see women leave feeling more confident in themselves. 1:1 Therapy isn't for everyone - and retreats can be very therapeutic. Maybe you don't want to see a therapist one on one, but you know you would like some support - a one day retreat is a great step of self care and the benefits are huge. You arrive, connect with yourself, feel inspired by others in the room and leave with a bag of gifts - it cant get any better! |
