What is Walk & Talk Therapy?
It's exactly what it sounds like - going on a walk outside while engaging in a counselling session. Walk & Talk can be a great alternative if the traditional setting of therapy is intimidating or not your style. This can be a great option for parents bringing their littles to sessions, if you’re wanting to connect to nature more or looking to work on mindfulness (although these are not necessary goals for Walk & Talk). When it feels appropriate there are times we may find a place to sit and connect to nature.
The walking is set at your pace, it is not meant to be strenuous exercise.
This amazing new service is offered by Registered Social Worker Laura McDougall.

How does it work?
Confidentiality
- Since these sessions occur outside in a public area, we cannot guarantee complete confidentiality or privacy. It is possible that people will overhear parts of the conversation or someone may be recognized. These scenarios and preferences on how to handle them will be discussed prior to sessions.
Weather
- In the case of adverse weather conditions (heavy rain, snow storm, heat warnings, etc.), alternate arrangements may be required, such as changing the appointment to be at the office or to Jane for a virtual session.
Locations
- There are two locations where we do Walk & Talk. These are Victoria Park/Woodfield Area (where the office is located) and Gibbons Park. Laura will reach out via email to determine the exact meeting spot once the session is booked.
